Dear Friends,
I'm very excited today to share with you about a long-time dream of mine,
which is finally becoming reality. As some of you know, my dreams, like my songs,
require an incredible amount of processing, planning, and praying on my part
before they develop into what they are meant to be. This one is no exception,
and it is quite possibly my favorite realized dream yet.
It began as a small thought a few years ago. I knew of several wonderful non-profit
organizations whose work was very interesting and inspiring to me, and I wanted
to be able to promote each of them at concerts and in other, more creative ways.
I also wished for more opportunities to challenge myself and my friends and
fans to live the love of Jesus by serving others in our own communities and
around the world.
Very slowly, the dream began to take shape. I first realized that in order
to serve in the ways I wanted to, I'd have to create my own means of facilitating
such opportunities. Initially, I figured that starting a non-profit organization
would perhaps be biting off more than I could chew, but as time passed, it seemed
the only thing to do.
The name came as subtly as the rest of the picture. One morning, I was struck
by the sentiment of a line I had written in "I Love The Way" (Beautiful:
"Catching glimpses of your mysteries/I find your fingerprints on everything."
I love the thought of God leaving His fingerprints of beauty and creativity
not only on His world but also on His children. How wonderful would it be if
we were so excited by this truth that we would choose to spend each day of our
lives as His living fingerprints;bringing His touches of love, grace,
and healing to those in our cities and throughout our universe.
As we begin our first year of work, I'm discovering how many wonderful
opportunities we have to offer healing touches to our world. We've chosen
the theme "Touching Little Hands: Bringing Hope to Children" for
this year of operation. All of our projects and events will be focused around
this theme. We'll be building a house for a family, supporting the rescue
of young girls in South Asia from slavery, and helping to bring food and education
to children in third-world countries. We'll also be caring for kids in
our own communities through local events taking place before and after my concerts.
I'd be honored if you would consider partnering with this young organization
by offering your prayer support, physical participation, and/or financial donations
to assist us with our growth and development.
I pray that God blesses you and allows you to notice the evidence of the beautiful
fingerprints He has left on your life.
Very sincerely,
Ginny Owens, Founder
The Fingerprint Initiative
